There are two steps you should complete before using the USRP SDR:

  1. Make sure that the device is connected correctly and that all drivers are installed without errors. 
  2. Change the default device ID to "usrp". You can use any other ID. The main point is that it must be a match in "NI-USRP Configuration Utility" and "GP-Simulator".


Make sure the USRP SDR is connected to the computer via USB 3.0.


Launch "NI-USRP Configuration Utility":

If all the drivers were installed correctly and the device is connected, you should see it in the list:


If you can't find the unility or don't find your SDR in the list, follow this link



Select connected USRP and set "New Device ID" to "usrp". Then hit the "Change Device ID" button and confirm the action:


After a few seconds, you should see a confirmation message. Press OK and re-plug USRP: 


Re-check USRP Device ID.  If everything is correct, you can close the application:
